| Tiivistelmä: | Voluntourism or volunteer tourism (hereafter as: v-t.) is increasingly available and popular among everyday tourists. This paper provides a critical and timely review of v-t. using interviews and participant observation with 11 respondents on a v-t. trip to South Africa. Reviewed are volunteer tourists' motivations, performances of the "self" in v-t., and the tensions and paradoxes related with v-t. |
