| Tiivistelmä: | Offering a dynamic analysis, this study aims at explaining individuals' changes in interethnic contact over time by considering relevant time-constant and time-varying characteristics (herein as: chars). Examined are the effects of these chars. measured at time one (t1) on the change in interethnic contact btw. t1 and time two (t2), thus providing better estimates of causal relationships. The hypotheses are tested based on panel data gathered among Moroccan, Surinamese, Turkish and Antillean immigrants in the Netherlands. Among others, it is found out that static research provides good estimates for time-constant chars. Yet, it tends to overestimate the role of time-varying chars. |
