| Tiivistelmä: | The effect of old age and disability benefits on women's adult care giving decisions had not been examined yet. This paper aims at filling the gap by using cross-sectional and event-history analysis techniques. Especially, the effectiveness of cash transfers and services provision are evaluated. As a data set, the study uses pooled European household panel data and indicators illustrating public spending on old age and disability benefits. The results indicate that the effect of cash transfers is insignificant. Increasing service provision is found to be more effective. |
