Tiivistelmä:In a free market economy quality has a very strong and increasing value. The strategies of successful companies comprise total quality control (TQC) concepts. This is a reason why Japanese companies gain market shares all over the world. In a case study of a Philips factory it is shown that quality improvement actions, performed in all departments, decrease the quality costs considerably. This example also shows, that highly mechanized and reliable production facilities have a great influence on this result. The perceptions from practical experience in quality-management over many years are summarized in a recommendation for an organization structure, which rearranges all relevant functions and departments.
