| Tiivistelmä: | For the German insurance industry unification of the former two Germanies result in a substantially larger market. While this new enlarged market offers good chances for growth, it also involves considerable risks. The absence of comprehensive statistics makes the determination of tariffs a task very hard to solve, especially in the field of insurance for industry and commerce. It is also rather difficult to correctly assess sums insured, as the commercial bookkeeping leaves much to be desired and balance sheets and income statements are of no indicative value. Moreover, safety and fire protection standards and the building substance of business in the former GDR are much below West German standards. |
