| Tiivistelmä: | A general model with imperfect repair is examined. The model includes, as special cases, many models examined previously in the literature. It is shown that the optimal policy replaces at the nth failure if the age of the unit exceeds some limit tn for n= 1,2,... Two special cases are studied in detail. For the model with minimal repairs, the expected average cost per unit time is derived and an algorithm is proposed which can be used to find the optimal policy. Numerical results show that the optimal policy is considerably better than the optimal periodic policy. Previous research in the area is generalized and unified. |
