| Tiivistelmä: | Following a description of the difficulties of technology transfers toward Eastern Europe, attention is focused on how industry is being reorganized there on the basis of joint business ventures and direct foreign investment. Using the process of privatization as a vehicle, Western firms' strategies are switching from a policy of technology transfer to gaining direct control over the firms of host countries. A few cases, with different outcomes, are mentioned. |
