Tiivistelmä:California's annual electricity demand by 2010 is estimated under two global warming scenarios. Each warming scenario is used to produce an electricity demand projection with end-use energy models. The focus of the analysis is on the heating and cooling of buildings and transport of water for farms and cities. The results suggest that global warming has a moderate effect on electricity demand, but because California's electricity system is so large, moderate percentage increases result in sizeable absolute impacts. California's greater need for cooling relative to heating means global warming increases electricity use in buildings.
