| Tiivistelmä: | The authors challenge the assumption underlying the theory of postindustrialism through an empirical analysis of employment and occupational structures of G-7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States). While the theory assumes a uniform trend towards a larger share of service sector employment, evidence from these countries shows that evolutionary paths towards a postindustrial society are clearly divergent, with different forms of knowledge-based industrial production. |
