| Tiivistelmä: | The possibility that television viewing exerts an adverse effect on intellectual development has been investigated. Performance on seven different cognitive tests were examined for respondents in four TV-viewing conditions and a no-TV control group.The results indicate that background television tends to decrease abilities to perform difficult cognitive tasks by diverting needed central processing capacity. |
