| Tiivistelmä: | A study was designed to examine the roles of accent, speech rate and age of voice on British listeners'social evaluations of audiotaped voices. The findings indicate that standard speakers were upgraded on competence-related traits but downgraded on solidarity traits irrespective of age. An Age X Accent interaction effect showed that older-sounding standard speakers were judged the most competent. |
