| Tiivistelmä: | The importance of using a Flexible Manufacturing System (FNS) to enchance firm competitiveness has been well accepted. However, frequently the selection of an FMS is poorly understood and applied. What is needed is a holistic approach. This paper provides a framework for the selection of an appropriate FMS. The selection process must consider not only operational and financial aspects, but also be consistent with industry, market, organizational, and other strategic needs. |
