| Tiivistelmä: | Intelligent systems have long been studied and used in the fields of flexible design and manufacture. Recent applications include knowledge-based systems for process planning, scheduling , facilities layout, and intelligent design environments. For the knowledge-based methods to advance, we need a deeper investigation of the fundamentals behind successful applications. We need to study the underlying themes, generalize solutions into problem solving methodologies, study the underlying solving structures, and investigate the impact of representation. |
