| Tiivistelmä: | Environmental option assessment (EOA) is a new tool for decision making with respect to substance life cycle management. The article describes a methodological approach for improving environmental control over a substance in a specific application. The EOA methodology requires the value judgments of general managers, rather than environmental experts, in positioning options for conceivable action along environmental yield and economic impact. Although no panacea, EOA has proved to be a powerful aid in fostering partners between stakeholders in industry, government and environmental organizations. |
