| Tiivistelmä: | A flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) consists of process stations, material handling and storage, computer control and so forth. FMS are used to cope with frequent changes such as product types, part mixes and routeings. Recently, Petri nets have become a popular modelling tool for FMS. Petri nets can model several types of system behaviour such as concurrency, synchronization, communication and cooperation among subsystems. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance of FMS during the initial stage of system design. |
