| Tiivistelmä: | Having achieved remarkable economic development over the last three decades, Singapore now faces the challenge of moving from being a Newly Industrialized Economy (NIE) to becoming a fully developed economy. This paper analyzes the key industrial policy initiatives of the Singapore government since the early 1990s to cope with the transition to developed nation status. This paper shows that, while specific strategic focus and policy targets in the 1990s have changed significantly from those of earlier decades, they represent imaginative applications and adaptations of the same economic principles that have guided industrial policy making in the past. |
