Tiivistelmä:How jobs are set up has an important bearingon what they deliver. People can be kept under tight control and undertake tasks only as instructed, they can be made personally accountable for what is assigend to them, or they can share accountability with others. The command-and control nature of the traditional hierarchy, whatever its other faults, had at least the merit of clarity in the way in which jobs were established and in the expectations they generated. But the flattering or, in some cases, the erosion of hierarchy has changed things both for better and for worse.
