Tiivistelmä:companies with differentiation and mixed business strategies appear to realize significantly more just-in-time (JIT) benefits relative to firms with a cost leadership business strategic orientation. Firms may benefit from broadening their strategic posture. Cost alone as a strategic weapon may no longer be a sufficient competitive weapon. Firms considering implementing JIT are advised to invest extensively in modifying their procedures, workforce and operations. Top managements' involvement in the initiation of the JIT effort is critical. The involvement of customers and suppliers in the actual implementation of JIT is essential. It appears that firms which do the right things by becoming leaders in their industries, also do well in terms JIT utilization.
