| Tiivistelmä: | In the five years since Croatia declared independence, the country has experienced war, an approximate one-third drop in GDP, high inflation, and economic crisis. Croatia has also implemented a very successful stabilisation programme. Croatian independence, by creating a setting of reduced decisional complexity, made it possible to approach stabilisation and reform radically and credibly. But achieving independence did not automatically bring a resolution to many of Croatia's other economic problems. |
