| Tiivistelmä: | In recent years the empirical literature on economic growth has devoted increasing attention to the issue of regional disparities. The stylized fact is that in Western Europe economic differences are much higher at the regional level than at the national one. The huge degree in disparity raises some interesting questions. Are the poorest regions growing at a rate higher than the richest, so that they are catching up? Does the tendency to converge pertain to labor productivity or does it also affect per capita income? |
