| Tiivistelmä: | The theory of constraints (or TOC) is a powerful short-run maximization tool. It focuses, however, on maximization of throughput, taking product mix, technology, and other parameters as given. The TOC should be viewed as broad management philosophy instead of being interpreted in a more narrow manner. The broad view would mean the TOC to encompass short-run and long-run strategic decisions. This article shows how capacity modification decisions and product mix can be incorporated into the framework of the theory. |
