| Tiivistelmä: | There are fundamental differences between investment banks and commercial banks. The emergence of typical investment banks and commercial banks took place in the process of separation-combination-separation. On a global scale, there are the separation model and the comprehensive model. Typical cases for the separation model are the U.S., Britain Japan while Germany is a typical example of the comprehensive model. There are advantages and disadvantages for both models. Considering the developing trend, the separation model is drawing close to the comprehensive model. Currently we should emphasize on the independent and specialized operation of investment banks and commercial banks. After a relatively long period of development, the two kinds of banks should move in the direction of combination. |
