| Tiivistelmä: | The author states that the valuation of intangible assets is now on the corporate radar screen and some powerful forces will contend to manage the process. In this paper the author shares the results of a project which puts the question whether the KM does wants to take up this challenge and what can it do to champion it deliver results. The paper discusses the application of knowledge management techniques on intangible assets. The author provides the comparison between tangible and intangible assets with respect to their effect on stock market valuation and pays attention to industries where brands are important. The paper also provides differences between accounting treatment of the two asset classes. |
