Tiivistelmä:This study deals with how strategic alliances (here as: all./alls.) and their impact on future competitive incentives (as: incs./inc.) can motivate interfirm equity sales. In the model, an all. between an entrepreneurial (as: e-pr-al.) firm and an established (as: estd.) firm improves efficiency for both. However, the requisite knowledge transfer heightens the estd. firm's inc. to enter one of its partner's markets. It is shown that equity can eliminate the entry inc., but accommodation is sometimes chosen to encourage e-pr-al. effort on future growth options. Stake sizes, block pricing, and welfare effects are analyzed.
