| Tiivistelmä: | This paper compares three instruments for empowering small, individual shareholders: proxy investing, proxy voting institutions and infomediaries. It was found out that no instrument turned out to be clearly superior to the others. Proxy investing is currently the most popular concept among small (individual) shareholders, whereas the future potential of proxy voting institutions and infomediaries may be higher. As more research is needed, governments and non-profit organisations could in the meantime stimulate experiments with proxy voting institutions and infomediaries for small shareholders. |
