Tiivistelmä:The paper discusses the phenomenon of demand for novelty which if defined as a unique under examined aspect of certain markets. Demand for novelty is the part of demand that cannot be explained by practical utility or marketing effects. High demand for novelty markets and typical markets are compared in this paper. Moreover, high demand for novelty markets involves the central role of novelty in the product or service value proposition as well as rapid growth rates and product or service obsolescence. Dynamics of innovating and imitating are considered as well as first mover competition is suggested to be unique in markets with high demand for novelty.
