| Tiivistelmä: | The authors goal in this research is to categorise the appropriability regime by combining, extending and complementing previous research on the topic. Furthermore they conducted a survey among 299 companies in order to find the availability, roles efficiency and strenght of appropriability mechanism. The authors state that type of mechanism would give institutional protection in the form of intellectual property rights, tacitness of knowledge, lead-time, contracts, labour legislation, practical secrecy and human resource management. They suggest in their findings a conceptual clarification of the appropriability regime, and show empirical evidence in order to strenghthen the understanding of the appropriation of returns on innovation. |
