| Tiivistelmä: | This study explores a specific type of resource provision, that is, industry experience supplementing (hereafter as: exp-spg). It demonstrates the criticality of the liabilities of newness (here as: l-of-n.) to this particular role. It is found that among younger entrepreneurial firms, an insufficiency of top management industry experience is offset by the presence of outside directors with significant managerial industry experience, providing evidence of exp-spg. by outside directors. This study highlights that the notion of exp-spg. at the upper levels prevails in young firms as they try to mitigate the burdens of the l-of-n. Exp-sgn. underscores board-management collaboration during early years of firm development. |
