| Tiivistelmä: | This article presents results from a first systematic study of the relationship between internationalization activity and venture capital (hereafter as VC) involvement in small and medium sized firms. The authors analyzed a pan-European dataset of VC-backed companies, paying particular attention to export intensity, the investment stage of the investee company and the nature of venture capitalist's involvement. The results support the hypothesis that investment stage moderates this relationship between external VC resources and the export intensity. For early-stage firms, value-added resources are the most important where as monitoring resources are significant for late-stage firms. |
