| Tiivistelmä: | This paper analyses the cognitive component of the destination image from a dual perspective: 1. by studying its composition by positing three positions on a continuum, that is, functional, mixed and psychological, 2. by studying the influence of these components on tourist's overall image of the destination and on their future behavioural (herein as: beh.) intentions (as: ints.) It is shown that the psychological and functional components have the greatest influence on the overall image of the destination. Overall image is found to influence future beh. ints. consistently, whereas the functional component is relevant for revisit ints. and the psychological component for the ints. to recommend. |
