| Tiivistelmä: | Three matrix structures are compared: the functional, the balanced, and the project matrix. Advantages are summarized according to the efficient use of resources, project integration, flexibility, information flow, discipline retention, motivation and commitment. Disadvantages could stem from power struggles, heightened conflicts, long reaction time, abdication of responsibility, excessive overhead, stress because of multiple reporting. In a study data were collected from 500 managers experienced in product development. The results indicate that matrix is still the dominant approach in this field. The project matrix is considered the most effective. |
