| Tiivistelmä: | A financial model, developed to facilitate planning in medical school departments with many funding sources, is described, that integrates manpower and funding elements with the school's teaching, research, and patient care activities. Such issues are addressed as the limits of faculty compensation, changing parameters of patient care, and the impact of funding decreases. For any given change in the amount or configuration of faculty effort among the primary activities, the model estimates the associated financial effects on both the institution and the individuals themselves over a one- to five-year planning horizon.It is reported that medical schools applied the model with excellent results. |
