Tiivistelmä:As a natural consequence of labor shortage pressure, small enterprises tried to ease this pressure with the introduction of industrial robots. Japan is a good place to study the socioeconomic implications of robotization, and a project was initiated with this purpose in mind. Taking this situation into account, robotization as an economic process and its economic impact are quantitatively analyzed. An overview of robotization is taken focusing on the two main robot-using industries. The data base is twofold, the first being the results of a former survey. The second source is derived from interviews with engineers, mostly from within the electrical and automobile industries.
