Tiivistelmä:A fad is a transient enthusiasm. "Old fads" are including such things as MBO, zero-based budgeting, PERT, sensitivity training, theories X and Y. When used as a protective measure, fads can help kill bad ideas early. However, new and creative ideas are also at risk of becoming fads. System survivors have long realized that to condemn to death any new management approach is to label it as "fad". The fad labelling process is analyzed. Some principles of fad management are dealt with. The role of the reward system in the acceptance and nurturing new ideas is highlighted.
