| Tiivistelmä: | Efforts made by government, labour, management and researchers are discussed and the problem of involuntary job loss is addressed. A brief review of the literature focusing on disruptions to psychological, physiological and social functioning due to job loss is presented. Programs initiated to counteract either the levels or the adverse consequences of unemployment are reviewed. Several specific suggestions for research on involuntary job loss are discussed. It is concluded that the need for management researchers to apply their investigative and interpretation skills to study the effects of job loss is extremely important. |
