Tiivistelmä:Managers traditionally focus on one or two values in motivation. However, people may be divided into five groups, those who value getting ahead, getting secure, getting free, getting high, getting balanced. Two strategies for managing this diversity of orientation are identified. The first is better motivation through more valuable rewards. The value of rewards should be determined by the values of individuals. The second strategy is downplaying organizational conflict and covert politics. Internal career is described as constituting motives, values and talents of people. External career is defined as the culture, style and rewards of a particular enterprise. Managers must improve the match between the two types of career.
