| Tiivistelmä: | The growing public attention on the ethics of business decision and conduct and the various forms of managerial behavior are examined. The American pessimistic views concerning business and other social institutions are cited. Five tactics that can be used in defense of charges of immoral or unethical business behavior are as follows: denial, disassociation (the company separates itself symbolically from the event or the persons who did it), scapegoating, accounting, apology. Difficulties in meaningfully describing and measuring morality or ethical behavior are mentioned. |
