| Tiivistelmä: | Automatic storage/retrieval systems are becoming increasingly prevalent. The need for computer codes to drive such systems continues to grow. The objective is to propose several heuristic methods, which are developed and based on the characteristics of the carousel conveyor systems, for solving the order picking problem of these systems. The main purpose is to provide insights for decision makers into performance evaluation of the system in an automated warehouse. The solution procedures presented are also applicable to solve directly the scheduling problem of automated warehousing systems. |
