| Tiivistelmä: | The technique of the solution of the classical transportation problem, as generally presented, can be mattered in a few hours. The fixed-charge problem is more difficult to solve. The incremental cost associated with the level of activity, i.e. the fixed costs in addition to the variable costs, is an objective function being a step function. A simple is used to illustrate a low-tech approach to the solution of the small fixed-charge transportation problem. |
