Tiivistelmä:From the turn of the century the Scott Paper Company was the consistent market leader of sanitary tissue and paper products. By the 1980s, Scott had relinguished its historical position. The responsibility to make a recovery fell on the shoulders of P. Lippincott, a 43-year-old marketing man. His own professional career is told and the remarkable turnaround of the company is described and analysed. The content of the "Strategic Plan of 1981" is reviewed and its role in the company's later success is characterized. The efforts were concentrated in three key areas: coated paper, international operations, and new technology. Changes in the company culture together with the emphasis on human resources excellence give effective support to the strategy.
