| Tiivistelmä: | The methodology for producing a strategic information plan for British Rail is described. Preliminary analysis showed that each of five business sectors of the company felt they had insufficient information with which to manage effectively. Interviews were used to understand business strategy of managers. Focus groups were designed to achieve team consensus over which information needs have high priority. Results of brainstorming sessions are described. The Five Forces model was used for representing the competitive environment, completed with a value chain. Potential information technology opportunities were highlighted for managers. |
