| Tiivistelmä: | Serious power shortages in China are expected to continue. Despite domestic energy shortages, China exports significant quantities of oil and coal. Trial quantites of uranium are also being exported. Over the next decade, coal exports are almost certain to be at the expense of domestic consumption and consequently the price must be sufficient to cover the opportunity cost of diverting supplies from the domestic to the export market. The prospects for energy exports to the turn of the century are evaluated. The four major energy minerals are considered individually and an assessment of their future potential in the relevant world markets is given. |
