Tiivistelmä: | Alma Holdings, a small, dull, family-owned business has been transformed into a company that ranks third in the UK's sugar confectionery market. Its chairman, Maciocia, M. combined two ingredients to produce the new-look company. First, no-holds-barred marketing. The other essential was low-cost manufacturing, delivered by Alma's production director. The mix of marketing and manufacturing expertise has been applied to Alma's original business and its later acquisitions with great success. However, the year 1989 has been marked by loss and because Alma acquired Barker and Dobson's confectionery business in a leveraged buyout. This caused a heavy debt burden at a time of increasing interest rates. |
