| Tiivistelmä: | The authors have tested several heuristic procedures for purchase lot sizing in material requirements planning (MRP) systems, applying actual data from manufacturing firms. The companies provided information on estimated costs and requirements, the price discount structure from the seller, and the actual ordering policy. Simulation tests included comparisons of several purchase lot-size procedures from the literature and the actual procedure used by the foregoing company. One of the heuristic procedures outperformed the company's policy as well as the other procedures. |
