Tiivistelmä:It is argued that within the process of negotiation there are three potential deadlocks. These could emerge to obstruct it if the negotiations are not properly and jointly managed. The first, the process deadlock may occur in the early stage of the negotiation as part of the breaking-up phase. An issue deadlock may occur in the finding solutions phase. At last the image deadlock may emerge in the final closure phase when negotiators engaged are unable to commit themselves to the final outcome. An example is presented involving all three deadlocks. Several general strategies are suggested which are appropriate in handling deadlocks.
