| Tiivistelmä: | An examination of the transition from Franco era to democracy and market capitalism, still under way in Spain, and the political, economic, demographic and educational changes which helped to shape the current business-society relations is provided. It is illustrated how a country might be studied from the viewpoint of the "business environmentalist". It is based on an investigation entailing several months of study which focused on Spanish economic and political history, written work of scholars, and lengthy discussions with some 40 business executives, journalists, government officials. Particular attention was paid on consumerism, employment and productivity, women's role, and business accountability. |
