| Tiivistelmä: | The information age has already dawned for companies, but only a few are aware of the fact. Strategic concepts and operative solutions are needed that account for the latest possibilities of electronic communication and can be flexibly adapted to meet the requirements of small- and medium-sized companies. An information-oriented concept of the firm is outlined. The role of personal workstations is described. A method of systems integration based on networking is presented. Information as a special kind of resources is characterized. The relationship between information and knowledge is examined. Some ways of gathering information from different data banks are briefly reviewed. |
