Tiivistelmä:The origins of personal conflicts in project management are examined. The threats of disregarding conflicts are highlighted: stress, inadequate communication, financial difficulties, postponement of deadlines etc. A lot of management techniques are mentioned and shortly reviewed which can be used in keeping conflicts down: training, clear job descriptions, exact qualification requirements, reporting, motivation, cooperative or participative leadership. The need for a flexible project management system is emphasized. The results of an empirical research are described and the relative importance of motives for a conflict is quantified.
