| Tiivistelmä: | In general, the research tradition in manufacturing strategy has not explicitly recognized the distinction between process and content research. Two complementary models of manufacturing strategy are presented, a process model and a content model. These models are used to articulate the distinction between process and content research, to synthesize the predominant process and content models, to evaluate the existing research, and to propose future research directions from both a process and content perspective. It is revealed, however, that the literature has not progressed sufficiently beyond articulating the major issues in manufacturing strategy and into defining constructs for the purpose of rigorously analyzing these issues. |
