Tiivistelmä:The Linder hypothesis states that trade intensity between two regions is inversely related to income differences or to put in another way consumption pattern differences. The hypothesis is tested on the sample of 48 states of the US, using both linear and double log functional forms. The best performing model is the one which postulates linear relation between import propensity and per capita income difference.
